Ongoing Development Projects

Several development initiatives are underway to address housing needs and revitalize the community:

Barclay Place

Located in Paterson, Barclay Place is a collaborative project between the New Jersey Community Development Corporation and St. Joseph’s Health. This development offers 56 new apartment units with one, two, and three-bedroom layouts. The ground floor includes 3,000 square feet of space operated by St. Joseph’s Health, providing on-site case management and support services to residents.

24.5 Van Houten Street

Situated in the Great Falls Historic District, this project involves the renovation of historic mill buildings and new construction to create approximately 200 units of affordable senior housing. The development will also feature street-facing retail space, a 7,500-square-foot performing arts area for local students and non-profits, and a pedestrian connection to the Great Falls Riverwalk. The project aims to achieve LEED Gold certification.

Riverside Village Family Apartments

Completed in 2022, the Riverside Village Family Apartments replaced the former Riverside Terrace complex. This development includes a four-story senior building and 165 family townhomes, along with amenities such as basketball courts, a playground, and a community center. The senior building offers lounge areas, an outdoor patio, and a state-of-the-art community room with a warming kitchen.

One Square Mile Initiative

Montclair State University, in partnership with community and philanthropic organizations, has launched the One Square Mile initiative to address housing inequities in Paterson. The first project under this initiative is the construction of a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 45 Auburn Street, marking Passaic County Habitat for Humanity’s 300th new home in Paterson.

These developments reflect a concerted effort to enhance Paterson’s housing options, catering to diverse needs and contributing to the city’s ongoing growth and revitalization.
